200 Years of Vintage & Antique Photography 1822- 2022
The first permanent photograph, a contact-exposed copy of an engraving, was made in 1822, 200 years ago. This was achieved by using the bitumen-based "heliography" process developed by Nicéphore Niépce. The first photographs of a real-world scene was made using a camera obscura, then followed a few years later in 1826 at Le Gras, France, in 1829 Niépce entered into a partnership with Louis Daguerre and the two collaborated, improving the process, resulting in the first real photo named Daguerreotype.

An Antique Camera is at least 100 years old, as is the craft to produce the photos of the times before 1922. We have everything from a large format studio camera used in the late 1800's to a range of box cameras used by the public and meant for day photography.
